Let me ask you, have you ever read through Craigslist ad’s? Were you astounded at the dull headlines and weak text copy? You probably know what I’m talking about. The same old lame headlines that you wouldn’t click on if it were the only ad on the list. Or if you do click on a sharp headline, the ad copy suddenly dies a thousand deaths. Here’s the bottom line… Most ads on Craigslist make creating your own ad the easiest process ever. There is simply no competition when you learn the secret process I’m about to share with you.
Here it is…when you create and write an ad on Craigslist or other online ad, keep CURIOSITY in the forefront of you mind. Remember you are not selling anything in the ad. You are simply after a click through to your website. Curiosity is the only tool you will use. It is the secret of forcing people to do what you want… click through to your webite. First what NOT to do… don’t just copy other people advertising, think outside the box. What you want to do is to create a drama that plays out from the headline, to the text, to your website.
What do I mean by “Drama”? This is why a perfume commercial on TV never mentions the perfume until the last 5 seconds of the commercial. The whole commercial explores some drama of a beautiful girl meets handsome boy and strikes up a romance etc. It ends with a picture and name of the perfume. You can use this same secret. Create a drama that begins with your headline, which bridges into your text copy and leaves the reader curious how it ends which of course requires they click on a link taking them to your website, sales page etc.
Let’s look at an example: Keep in mind that the headline needs to have at least one word that makes that headline be acceptable in that subject. If you are advertising in the Job/Sales area, the word “marketing, marketer, sales, salesperson etc”, needs to be in the headline.
So we could say something like: Only the Best Salesperson will survive… (Dallas)
